Self-Care: Wellness Goals to Set for The New Year

With 2024 well on its way, many of us are making resolutions for the new year. Health and wellness are a vital part of our lives, and it is important to take care of it in the new year. Creating smaller, measurable goals are key to maintaining and keeping our new year resolutions and McKin Health has some ideas for your wellness goals this year!

Create a Sleep Routine

Creating healthy habits is vital to maintaining your health on a day-to-day basis and having a consistent sleep routine is no different! Having a consistent sleep routine assists in reinforcing your body’s sleep-wake cycle which can support the feeling of a good night’s rest.

Start Journaling

Journaling over the past couple of years has increased in popularity and for good reason. Journaling can help with coping in regards to anxiety, depression and PTSD and can help with feelings of stress in our everyday lives. What kind of journaling one chooses to do is very much up to the individual and what works for you.

Drink More Water

Staying hydrated is very important to our body’s overall functions and prevents dehydration. Dehydration can cause feelings of tiredness, dizziness and nausea and many other symptoms. If you notice that you feel dehydrated, creating a goal for the new year may be beneficial to you. Remember to create measurable goals to promote consistency! This can mean buying a timed water bottle, pictured below, or creating a goal each day of how many cups or ounces of water you are going to drink.

Nutrition Goals

For the new year, many have the goal of eating healthier or other goals related to food consumption. If you’re missing nutrients and struggle with incorporating specific things into your diet, supplements are an easy way to bring specific nutrients into your diet.

If you have the goal of consuming more protein in the coming year, McKin Health recommends LiquaCel® Collagen Protein. LiquaCel contains 16g of protein and 2.5g of arginine in every serving and there’re some fun recipes to try! See our Hot Chocolate Mocha recipe, featuring LiquaCel!
